Basic USCG Regulations

 

  1. Life Jackets (PFDs): Must carry USCG-approved life jackets for each person on board.

  5. Backfire Flame Control: Gasoline-powered boats manufactured after April 25, 1940, must have an approved backfire flame arrestor.

  7. Navigation Rules: Vessels 12 meters (39.4 feet) or more in length must carry a copy of USCG Inland Navigation Rules.
  8. Engine Cut-Off Switches: Required for enhancing safety by stopping the boat engine if the operator falls overboard.
  9. Pollution Regulations and Marine Trash Disposal: Compliance with regulations preventing pollution and managing garbage and marine debris disposal is mandatory.
